This Leave Policy applies to all MicroCodeZ team members. We are committed to providing flexible, compliant, and inclusive leave entitlements to support the wellbeing, productivity, and personal needs of our people. This policy is in line with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and applicable Australian workplace standards.

Full-time employees are entitled to four weeks (20 days) of paid annual leave per year. Leave accrues progressively and can be requested via the MCZ Business e-Management HR module. We encourage team members to take breaks regularly to recharge and maintain long-term productivity.

Employees are entitled to 10 days of paid personal leave per year for illness, injury, or caring responsibilities. This includes mental health days. We respect confidentiality and encourage openness when additional flexibility is needed.

In support of mental health and sustainable work practices, all employees are entitled to one paid Wellness Day per quarter, totalling 4 days per calendar year. These are designed to promote rest, reflection, and work-life balance.

Wellness Days can be scheduled in advance or used ad hoc with prior notice to your team leader. These days are in addition to standard personal and annual leave and do not carry over between years.

As a remote-friendly software company, we understand that time off may not always fit traditional models. We offer:
  • Half-day, time-off-in-lieu (TOIL), and "mental reset" leave options
  • Flexible scheduling during product delivery cycles
  • Manager-approved ad-hoc leave for emergencies

In line with the National Employment Standards (NES), eligible employees are entitled to unpaid parental leave for up to 12 months. We may also offer additional paid parental leave depending on tenure and role. Notify your manager and HR as early as possible to plan handovers and coverage.

Employees are entitled to 2 days of paid compassionate leave per occasion for the death or serious illness of an immediate family member. Additional unpaid time may be granted at manager discretion.

MicroCodeZ observes national and state-based public holidays relevant to each employee's location. Alternative arrangements may be made for global team members working across time zones. Holiday leave is not deducted from annual leave balances.

Employees may request unpaid leave for extended travel, study, or personal reasons. These are subject to team capacity and approval by management. Extended leave of over 4 weeks may impact continuous service and accruals. Check with HR before applying.
